Oso Ristorante

We celebrated our 6th monthsary as husband and wife and Valentine 2010 in a nice posh place in Bukit Pasoh, Singapore.  ARP has been away for a month so we catch up by indulging in OSO Ristorante.

I heard this place from a friend, who always has good finds in terms of eating places.  It's very me, I maximize Google's power to give me all the reviews I can get.  So days before the BIG DATE, I already know what to order for me and hubby.
7 pm was very early for the Bukit Pasoh crowd.  We were invited in OSO's bar (Baretto) for drinks while we listen to the band.  After we gulp our drinks, we were directed upstairs where the restaurant is situated.  I requested for balcony table as the ambiance is much romantic which suited the occasion.
Now, we go to the food.

Appetizer - Melanzane (eggplant parmigiana) -5/5 -
The starter didn't fail us.  We loved the just-enough sweet, tangy taste of the tomato and cheese in between the cut slices of eggplant.  Mozzarella, which adds a special touch to any dish, made it special.

Mains - Agnello (8 hours oven-baked lamb with beans and onions) - 4.5/5 -
The people's choice and hubby's too.  Who wouldn't be enticed with the number of hours?  And true enough, the lamb was lovely.  I never like lamb but this was an exception.  The texture and the flavor of the lamb were nicely intact.  But i think the portion is a bit small and my dish is way better...check next!

Mains- Ossobucco (Veal Shank with lemon gremolata and potato puree) - 5/5
The winner of the night!  When i ask the waiter what he can say about their Ossobucco, he just said, it's value for money.  That kinda got a *ding* in my mind. I'd get a big portion which is not the usual for fine dining and you can't go wrong with veal. And yes, it was equivalent of 2 portions (compared to hubby's lamb).  It was delicious and the veal was soft, tender and fell off the bone easily.  The sauce was very tasty and stew-like. (wish they serve white rice which would go well with it...ok it's Italian...i can't get extra rice *smile*)

Dessert (Tiramisu) - 3.5/5
As a thank you, I let him choose the dessert.  He's a tiramisu-type-of-guy.  After the extravagant dishes, our expectation for dessert went up sky high.  Unfortunately, there was nothing special about it.

Wine (Castello Di Monastero "INFINITO" 2003) - 4/5
We're not very familiar with Italian wine so we requested for medium body.  Our waiter was very knowledgeable of the wines.  He gave suggestions and surprisingly, not the expensive ones.

Service - 5/5
The waiter has a good sense of humor and easy to talk with.  He studies his customers and made sure it suit our needs.
Overall, it was a great night.  Thanks hubby!

P.S. They have 24,000 SGD for a bottle of wine. (yikes)

Price Summary (SGD):
Appetizer - $22
Mains - $35
Dessert - $14
Wine - mid-range $100-$200
